Summary:

Since the 1990s, various single-chip switching power supply integrated circuits have been launched, and nearly 100 models of TOPSwitch, TOPSwitch-II, TOPSwitch-FX, TOPSwitch-GX, TinySwitch and TinySwitch-II have been formed. They have significant advantages such as high integration, high cost performance, minimal peripheral circuits, and best performance indicators. They have become the preferred integrated circuit for developing medium and small power switching power supplies, precision switching power supplies and power modules below 250W.

The single-chip switching power supply not only has many unique features in the whole circuit design, high-frequency transformer design, feedback circuit, protection circuit and selection of key components, but also is suitable for the design of the whole switching power supply by computer. Become a new technology in the field of international power. The PIExpert software developed by PI (Power Integrations) of the United States uses this technology. However, the software is not sold as a commodity, and the CDs donated also impose strict restrictions on the number of times the software is installed and used, and the running time of the software is listed as the company's top secret. In addition, PIExpert software has some shortcomings, which are highlighted in each series of products corresponding to a set of specialized software, and can only be designed for existing products. Therefore, it also brings some inconvenience to the user.

In order to solve the above problems and promote the rapid application of this new technology in China, we have independently developed a highly versatile KDPExpert expert system based on PIExpert, using the VisualBasic (hereinafter referred to as VB) language, as a switching power supply designer. A powerful, simple and practical design software is provided. The software is not only suitable for TOPSwitch, TOPSwitch-II, TOPSwitch-FX and TOPSwitch-GX series, but also reserves enough interfaces for new products coming out in the future. This lecture elaborates on the new technology of using computer to design single-chip switching power supply and the design idea, design method, interface style and usage guide of KDPExpert software. For the convenience of description, TOPSwitch is used to represent TOPSwitch, TOPSwitch-II, TOPSwitch-FX and TOPSwitch-GX series.
