Airbag electronic system test principle and scheme

The airbag refers to an inflatable soft bladder installed on a car, which is used to pop up at the moment of a collision accident of the vehicle, thereby achieving the cushioning function and protecting the safety of the driver and the passenger. The airbag must be used in conjunction with the seat belt to obtain a protective effect.

Principle of action:

When the impact sensor detects an impact, the relevant control system determines whether the collision level determines whether to trigger the inflator, and usually the gas generating agent such as gasoline or explosive is combined with the ignition device to form the inflation module. In order to dispose of the safety of the treatment, the airbag is usually only detonated at a high temperature.

The airbag of the car contains substances such as sodium azide (NaN3) or ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3). When a car is subjected to a violent impact during high-speed driving, these substances rapidly decompose and generate a large amount of gas, filling the airbag. (Sodium azide decomposes to produce nitrogen and solid sodium; ammonium nitrate decomposes to produce large amounts of nitrous oxide (N2O) gas and water vapor. Since the impact process is very short, the airbag typically triggers to complete the aeration process for about 25-35 milliseconds. It will first break the cover and inflate it.

Airbags are a compelling new technology device on modern cars. In order to reduce the damage to the driver and the occupant caused by the huge inertial force in the frontal collision of the car, Hyundai Motor is generally equipped with an airbag system in the center of the driver's front steering wheel, and some cars in the front of the driver's sub-toolbox The airbag system is also installed at the upper end.

The airbag system is mainly composed of a collision sensor, an airbag computer, an SRS indicator lamp and an airbag module.

Airbag test

On the one hand, the airbag must be rigorously tested on the electrical control system of the airbag, and on the other hand, the electrical parameters of the inflator should be tested.

The 2790 SourceMeter Switching System provides a high-voltage, multi-channel resistance measurement solution for airbags that enables quick and easy access to electrical inspections of airbag inflators and other automotive electronics testing applications. It is the only commercial instrument based on the power, measurement, and signal routing functions required for insulation resistance and wire connectivity measurement. It has a compact and value-package structure. Using a plug-in power/switch module, the 2790 provides programmable high voltage and low current sources to support switching between multiple channels. This unique, versatile, integrated design creates new cost-effective standards for automotive airbag inflators and other automotive electronics test applications. The 2790-HH is a system specifically designed for applications that require high-voltage "inhalation" parallel testing.

Similar to the 2790-H, the 2790-HH is designed for low current and high voltage resistance measurement applications and can test single or dual stage airbag inflation

machine. If used in conjunction with two plug-in modules, it can also test two inflators at a time, greatly increasing test throughput.

2790 Features:

â–  Multi-channel measurement system

â–  Programmable high voltage and low current source

â–  Modular architecture

■ Measure 2-wire and 4-wire resistors from 100μ ohms to 120M ohms
