Bob Dickinson is known as the "Light God" and has won 14 Emmy Awards. He has almost completed the Oscar, Grammy Awards Ceremony and the lighting design of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games. One of his recent projects was to design lighting for the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Summer Special Olympics.

This is the seventh time Bob Dickinson designed lighting for the Olympics.
On the evening of October 2, the Special Olympics was opened less than 3 hours. Bob Dickinson, the chief designer of lighting, chatted with reporters in a leisurely way, with a slow speech rate and awkward attitude. In the chat, he made a full and shy explanation, just finished eating lunch. Originally due to the special nature of lighting, lighting design can only be carried out at night, so Bob Dickinson gets up every afternoon and works until two or three in the morning.
Bob Dickinson, a 53-year-old American, is known as the "light god" in the world. He has arranged the annual lighting design for the Tony Award, the Grammy Award, the Emmy Award and the Oscar Award. U2, Rolling Stone and many other superstar TV programs are responsible for lighting design; he is also a professional user of the opening and closing ceremony lighting design of the Olympic Games - the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and the opening of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games The closing ceremony is his work. During his 30-year career, he has won numerous awards and laurels including 14 Emmy Awards.
Bob can be said to be soaking up in the lighting industry. When he was a child, he found himself very sensitive to light when he set the scene for school activities. "The light is different from the scenery, clothing or props. It can't be grasped by hand. It is mysterious." Bob said that he was the magical power. Attracted, from a young age decided to take this as a career. At the age of 18, Bob first lamped the film, and since then he has started his career and has not been able to do so. Ten years later, 28-year-old Bob was invited to be the chief lighting designer for the Oscars. Since then, he has almost covered the lighting design of previous Oscars. In the 1990s, Bob founded his own company, first advocating the abandonment of fixed lights and switching to moving lights. Now he advocates peer-to-peer operation, do not abuse color, and restore the importance and utilization of lighting angle, intensity and other elements.
In Bob's view, a good lighting engineer is first and foremost a good mechanic, followed by a very keen, understanding of music and good communication skills. “I see light as an art, a law.â€

B: How long have you been preparing for this Special Olympics?
b: I started preparing about a year and a half ago. In time allocation, 60% of the time is spent on designing, understanding the meaning of the symbolized image in Chinese traditional culture, 40% of the time for equipment. Preparation and implementation.
