Shanghai Bell Helps China Telecom Expand LTE Ultra-Broadband Service


Shanghai Bell announced that it has been selected as the top three network providers of China Telecom to help it launch mobile ultra-broadband services throughout China. As more and more consumers are pursuing higher speed, capacity and efficiency of LTE networks, operators need to continuously introduce new technologies to improve network performance.

China Telecom has approximately 186 million mobile subscribers. With the Chinese government issuing FDD-LTE licenses, China Telecom will begin the expansion of LTE services in existing regions and newly built regions in China to meet the growing demand for high-performance data and video content from customers.

According to the agreement, Shanghai Bell will be one of the top three network providers of China Telecom, and 40 cities in 12 provinces and cities in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Hunan, Hubei, Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia and Liaoning. The network provided by Shanghai Bell will cover 40 cities in 12 provinces and cities, including the highest GDP cities in China such as Shanghai and Suzhou.

The Shanghai Bell 9926eNodeB technology includes digital baseband units and radio frequency platforms that enable operators to better utilize their spectrum resources and smoothly manage network coverage and capacity. The technology is easy to deploy and can provide operators with more flexibility and help them adapt more quickly to changing market demands.

The deployment will help China Telecom expand the coverage and capacity of LTE services. Prior to this, Shanghai Bell signed a LTE trial network deployment contract with China Telecom in December 2013.
