Research says blue light allows people to put it faster after experiencing acute stress

We have heard that blue light keeps the brain awake, kills bacteria, and helps control psoriasis. Now, researchers from the University of Granada in Spain and the San Rafael School of Special Education report that Blu-ray also allows people to relax more quickly after experiencing acute psychological stress.

First, what is psychological stress? According to the university, this is a short-term stress (acute stress) that occurs in social or interpersonal relationships, such as quarreling with a friend, or someone forced you to complete a task as quickly as possible.

In a laboratory test, 12 healthy volunteers between the ages of 18 and 37 were under such pressure and then entered the “chromotherapy room” for relaxation exercises. There was no irritant in the room except the LED lights. Half of the test subjects were exposed to white light for 10 minutes, then after 10 minutes, the light turned blue again, while the other half of the test subjects were just the opposite. When they exercise, the researchers used ECGs and EEGs to monitor biosignals such as heart and brain activity. When comparing the results of the two groups, the researchers found that volunteers exposed to blue light were able to reach relaxation more quickly than those exposed to white light, with an average time of 1.1 minutes and a control group reaching a relaxed state of 3.5 minutes.

The study was led by Francisco Pelayo and was recently published in the journal PLOS ONE.
