Recently, Liu Qiangdong, founder and CEO of China's second-largest e-commerce giant Jingdong, said in an exclusive interview with CNBC that Jingdong will use drones to transport goods, thereby reducing logistics costs. He believes that logistics barriers are the main reason why Jingdong has not been able to spread in small cities and rural areas. Therefore, machine delivery methods such as drones are expected to open the door to remote areas in China.
Liu Qiangdong also compared Amazon's delivery methods. He believes that China's national conditions living in apartments are not conducive to Jingdong's use of the same express delivery method as Amazon, but the vast Chinese countryside can use drones to deliver home, so this is a huge market.
Jingdong is equipped with a courier in each village, and then delivers the courier directly to the courier's backyard through the drone, thus forming a fixed route. When asked if the development of science and technology would steal the human bowl, Liu Qiangdong said that Jingdong still needs a lot of staff to maintain the entire delivery system. However, looking at the whole country and society, he believes that there will be a group of people unemployed in the future.
