The Malawi government provides 1.3 million energy-saving lamps to citizens for free

According to the head of the Malawi Power Company (ESCOM), the government’s move is expected to save the country about 30 megawatts of electricity per month while effectively reducing carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere.
