Market research firm Intertech Pira predicts that the global OLED lighting and display market will grow from $615 million in 2008 to more than $6.7 billion in 2014, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 44% over a five-year period.
In terms of OLED displays, Intertech Pira predicts that the market will have a 35% CAGR of $4.7 billion in 2009-2014; its main growth driver will come from active-matrix OLED displays earlier. The application of the portable product field will be followed by the revenue contributed by the active matrix OLED TV.
In terms of OLED lighting, it will start from 2010 with a small market size, with 112% CAGR reaching $1.985 billion in 2014. From 2009 to 2014, IntertechPira also expects OLED supply chain manufacturers to undergo a consolidation.
In addition, due to the synergy between OLED materials and technology development, IntertechPira believes that some OLED display manufacturers may also extend their products to OLED lighting. The agency pointed out that OLED displays were launched in the late 1990s, with manufacturers mainly from Japan, Taiwan and South Korea; and by 2014, Chinese manufacturers may increase their participation. As for European manufacturers, it is mainly to develop OLED lighting technology.
The passive-matrix OLED display market is expected to continue to shrink between 2009 and 2014, while the active matrix OLED display will grow at 42% CAGR; while the automotive OLED lighting market will begin to take off in 2011, to Before 2014, it expanded rapidly with 100% CAGR.
