Expedia, the world’s largest online travel company, or VR hotel launch

Usually when we book hotels online, we can only understand based on some pictures. And now Expedia, the world’s largest online travel company, offers visitors a futuristic solution. Expedia is providing virtual reality (VR) version availability information, allowing more people to use VR devices at home to learn about hotel room facilities and the environment.

Arthur Chapin, Expedia’s senior vice president of product and design, said: “If you want to make a cruise booking decision, you can check the equipment of the cruise ship before spending so much money. Isn't it cool?” Arthur Chapin thinks, virtual reality You can change the way people make reservations and let users access almost hotel rooms and see their devices.

However, VR is not the only technology Expedia is researching. Expedia is also looking for smart voice devices like Amazon Echo to see how they can help with the travel booking process. Chapin said: “I think that voice will be a part of people interacting with travel. So we will continue to try sounds and chat rooms, not only for consumers but also for partners, so our hotel [customer] can use this Chat with us."

In addition, Expedia will also be the first online travel company to use electromyography (EMG) technology. EMG machines allow scientists to track emotional reactions to their websites through facial muscles, helping to point out whether some booking processes may hinder users.

Expedia has been named the world’s largest online travel company and announced last year that it expects to reach its market value of US$100 billion by 2020.
