Ma Xingrui, general manager of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and party secretary of the party group, made the following introduction to the development of UHV power grids:
The development of UHV transmission technology is first and foremost the need of China's economic and social development, because UHV transmission technology has the characteristics of long transmission distance, large capacity, low loss, and high efficiency. It is impossible to achieve other voltage levels such as ultra-high voltage. The development of UHV is also determined by the demand for the growth of energy and electricity in our country’s economic and social development. Because we expect that by 2020, the electricity consumption of the entire society in China will double again.
China’s national conditions are that the distribution of energy resources and the demand for energy resources are reversed. Our country’s energy resources are mainly distributed in the north and northwest, but the most electricity is in the southeast, which requires the transformation of energy resources into electricity on the spot. , Long-distance transmission, in the country to optimize the allocation, so the need to develop UHV.
The development of UHV is also the need to develop clean energy. China's clean energy is mainly wind power and solar energy, and is concentrated in northern and western China. It is precisely in these places that the economy is underdeveloped and electricity consumption is relatively low. Clean energy needs to transport thousands of kilometers over long distances to the east. From the aspect of technological development, wind power alone can develop several hundred million kilowatts in Xinjiang alone. Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province can develop wind power installed capacity of 100 million kilowatts, and deserts in the Gobi Desert can be built into wind farms and solar farms. The resources there are almost inexhaustible, but they must be transported to the southeast through the UHV.
The UHV project mainly refers to the UHV AC and UHV DC projects. Our first UHV AC was put into operation on January 6, 2009, and the UHV DC project was put into operation on July 8, 2010. It has been safe to run for nearly four years and two and a half years respectively. According to the operating conditions, the electrical performance is good. Safety, environmental, economic and other indicators have met and exceeded the design standards and requirements. In recent years, they have withstood. The tests of thunderstorms, rain, snow, ice, lightning, and other harsh natural conditions and various modes of operation proved to be successful.
With UHV technology, energy and power utilities can achieve scientific development. Otherwise, development will be unsustainable. In 2000, 38.5% of China's railway capacity was shipped to coal. In recent years, the railway industry has developed rapidly. However, in 2011, 57.8% of railway capacity was required to transport coal. This development method is difficult to sustain. , we must use UHV to solve the problem.
Ma Xingrui said: "For UHV technology, we not only have complete independent intellectual property rights, but this technology is unique in the world. In the past, the United States, Italy and other countries have done research in this area, Russia, the former Soviet Union and Japan. We have done this kind of engineering practice. However, due to technical and other reasons, there has been no success or commercialization. In the process of development, we have encountered great difficulties and great resistance, which is imaginable."
